Hello DadBodFit family. Hope all is well as we are battling ice storm 2019,Ha!! So last week I had to go to the doctor for a small medical issue. I checked out and left like always. As I was walking out I kinda glanced at my paperwork. It had my blood pressure and heart rate. My height weight etc. etc. I happened to notice my BMI. Body mass index. It is 25. Hmmm. No biggie right. Well with my age a 25 BMI shows me as overweight! Wow. I work out 7 days a week. Eat 7-8 times a day, 95% clean. Drink a gallon of water a day. I haven’t touched even a diet pop in 3 years. A regular pop in 20 years. I can’t wven remember what a snickers tastes like. So what’s my point to all this you ask?? Much of the health and nutrition information that we have been taught for years is outdated and just wrong. Now I’m not saying that I couldn’t drop a little body fat but I believe I’m at approx 8-9 percent right now. I don’t feel like I’m close to overweight. Be careful how you guys judge your progress. That’s why I tell my wife to stay off of the scale. Who cares what it says. You wanna judge your fitness level. Next time you get outta the shower. Stand naked(or in your underwear) in front of the mirror and look at yourself. Really look at yourself. I do this often. It’s how I gage my conditioning as far as body fat. It’s how I check my muscularity. How I decide what area of my body I’m gonna cinventrate in for improvement. Looking at yourself can tell you a lot about your diet and overall health. By the way peanut butter is not a protein. That’s right. Your 4th grade teacher is wrong. The macronutrient triangle picture graph thingy is wrong. Peanut butter is a fat and guess what. I eat a ton of it. And I do mean a ton of it. In my oatmeal and with a spoon!! Oh and by the way. High carb diets will make you gain weight. Unless you are a endurance athlete moderate carbs are for you. Now I also am not into the ever popular keto craze. I work out hard. Real hard. I need carbs. Not in the form of 3 bowls of captain crunch cereal but yeah I eat a bunch of oatmeal, quinoa, roasted veggies, and spinach in my eggs!!! Heck I even eat fruit! Ok sorry I’m getting off track now. Anyway I will close with this. We’ve been taught to not judge a book by its cover. In this case, by all means judge your body by its cover. Well until next time…… I gotta drop 10 pounds and get the BMI under 25!!!! Ha! I hope it’s 30 next time. Long as I’m around 8-9 % body fat I don’t care if it’s 35!!!!!
